The practice of Sophrology can help strengthen body and mind, create more balance, and bring positivity and wellbeing in your daily life.
Sophrology was created 60 years ago in Spain by psychiatrist and neurologist, Professor Alfonso Caycedo.
Sophrology, also called ‘dynamic relaxation’ is unique in that it blends Eastern philosophies with Western science using breathing, relaxation, gentle movement and visualisation techniques to quieten the mind and ground you in the body. Sophrology allows us not only to feel more relaxed, present, open and focused everyday but also to prepare for future events and enhance performance. Regularly practising Sophrology allows you to positively deal with the challenge of daily life finding purpose, balance and energy. In essence, it helps people to unlock their full potential and to be at their best both professionally and personally.
Sophrology has been widely practised across Continental Europe for decades in different settings including schools, hospitals and corporate environments and championed by everyone from Olympic athletes to high-flying CEOs. In Switzerland Sophrology is even reimbursed by the Swiss National Insurance as it has been proven that people who practice Sophrology regularly reduce their medication intake by 30%.
Sophrology was initially only used in the medical world but from the 1970’s it quickly spread across Europe due to its far-reaching health benefits which include: Stress Management, Self Development and Preparing for events.

Sophrology is not a complicated or time-consuming practice, Nor is it only for meditation converts. And it doesn’t involve an in-depth analysis of the “whys” and “hows”.
With sophrology, it is about the mindset - we learn to acknowledge what we feel and where we are, and we use a short and effective practice to move forward or look at things differently. We can become creative in the way we live our lives. - Dominique Antiglio - Be Sophro UK
